Our Story

Kenzie & Zack

2015

How It Started

Our story began in 2015, at only 13 years old in the 7th grade in our junior-high orchestra. Kenzie played the viola and Zack the violin, something we still do together at least once a year. We started out as friends as most great love stories do. Though Zack realized it first, over time we both came to see that we are an amazing team and perfect complements.

High School & Together

It started with bonfires in the fall of 2018 at Michelle's (Zack's mom's) house when we both insisted that we were just friends, but everyone around us knew better than that. We were officially together March 21st of 2019 and have been hand-in-hand ever since. We performed together at orchestra concerts and ISSMA competitions, Kenzie went to every swim meet of Zack's she could and Zack to every soccer game, saw our older and younger siblings attend their proms, braved COVID via FaceTime, Kenzie got our dog Crosby, attended our senior prom together, and saw each other graduate high school. And through it all, orchestra was the one common string that we could always find each other.

Purdue & Growing Up

Both of us went to Purdue University for our Bachelors Degrees. Zack, ever the steady one, studied Computer Science from day one. Kenzie started in pre-med but with loving support from Zack was able to re-realize her dream of becoming a vet and switched to Animal Sciences. We have gone through the trials of long distance with Kenzie's internship in Kentucky at a racehorse hospital, Zack's internship at Garmin in Kansas, and Zack's first job out of college in Ohio while Kenzie finished up school. This distance, while difficult, molded us into the people we are today and strengthened our love for each other.

California & What's Next

After a once in a lifetime opportunity for Zack to become a software engineer at Apple was presented, we packed up our things and with Crosby moved out to Cupertino, CA from the midwest and are thriving in the warm weather. Zack is loving his job at Apple and Kenzie has joined an equine veterinary practice in the Bay Area. During all of this moving, Kenzie has taken the leap of faith and committed to follow the Catholic Church with Zack as her guide. She has officially been baptized and confirmed into the Church this Easter and looks forward for the new life that will bring. Come January, we will have to face long distance again as Kenzie has been accepted into Ross Veterinary School in St. Kitts, Bahamas where she will be able to fulfill her dream of becoming an equine vet. Though the distance will be a challenge, Zack wants nothing more than for Kenzie to be able to reach her goals just as he has. Our love is strong enough that we won't flinch in the face of adversity knowing that we will always have each other. We have had the opportunity to grow up together and witness each other grow and change into the people we are meant to be — both for ourselves and for each other. We are beyond excited to take this next step in our life and are thrilled to have you there to celebrate with us!
